everything except the norm
Jerca Rožnik Novak & Johannes Randolf – 2GETHER AL(L)ONE work-in-progress presentation
  • 2020.03.06. 19:00 - 19:40

Jerca Rožnik Novak, Slovenian contemporary dance professional and performer and Johannes Randolf Austrian choreographer spent 2 weeks at Bakelit on a creative residency to develop their new performance.

The piece 2GETHER/AL(L)ONE was transformed into a solo by coincidence as one of the dancers got injured. The solo version of the creation thoroughly underlines the feeling of being left alone, although the memory of togetherness is still very present. The performance deals with the feeling of emptiness, combined with a feeling of missing someone and anger with the situation of being left alone. Not disappointed, not bitter with the person, only with the circumstances that made such a situation happen. The performance emphasizes the concept of making the impossible possible and the way we are able to adjust instantly to create a new opportunity out of the disastrous situation.

The performance deals with the idea of the need to keep things, people, situations the way they are or bring them back to the original state after they got shifted or broken. The need to replace or bring back the missing part or the missing person is shown through the engagement and support of the audience.
