As many of you may already know, as part of our European project Be SpectACTive! we continously work with a group of active spectators. We involve them in our programming and have long discussion with them what it is like to be a spectator and what do they actually want to see and experience on stage. Every year we organize the so-called European Spectators Day where we spend a couple of hours connecting with the groups of our 15 partner institution. This year however we thought that we would like to involve you all, hear about you all, and not just on this special day. We’ve chosen a Portugese artitst, Raquel André who came up with the idea of The Collection of Spectators.
Collection of Spectators has its own participatory bilingual website that builds up an archive of spectators and their experiences with art. The project has the experience of the spectators at the center, giving voice to their narratives and artistic contributions. Through bi-weekly open calls with an instruction, anyone is invited to participate, feeding this way a
website that becomes a live archive in progress.
At the Spectators Festival, 15 spectators from 15 different countries will share with the whole world how a work or art experience marked and transformed them. Each one of them will have 5 minutes to share with us what they have saved forever from an artistic moment.
And you can participate! Commenting and sharing in the chat your own experiences and sensations throughout the event!
On November 21st 2020, 5pm, the festival will be broadcasted on all platforms of the project, as well as in those of the project’s partners.
Be sure not to miss it!
In the following video, Raquel herself speaks about the project as part of a bigger collection:
The project is realized in the frame of the European project Be SpectACTive! and supported by the Creative Europe Programme.
