“In the summer of 2020, during an informal workshop, a team of researchers from casually gathered and invited people joined me. After our presentation on August 25, 2020 we stated that we would like to continue working together on my next piece entitled UMARMUNG. After cleaning up the structure and adding more and more minor elements to the collaboration with the audience, a final performance could finally take place on April 30, 2021 in the theater space of the Bakelit Multi Art Center as part of the ‘Dance Performance Series with Naked Spectators’.
Imperceptibly, the team of creators and performers, who embarked on the journey as an occasional collective, forged into a collaborative group and under my leadership we became even more interested in further researching the topic we started, but now shaping the experiences again into a new piece.

What do we keep?
We keep the constant attention and lively openness to each other, which we were lucky enough to experience in several forms during the previous performances. We keep my choreographic and directing principle, in which I collect the movement material brought by the participants through various improvisational and situational exercises. We keep the principle of composing, the possibility of spontaneous reaction (even in the performance), however, adhering to the structure based on strict principles, we create a performance in which the developed movement materials reflect the moment and we are not talking about improvisation, but a composition created with due care.

What emerges into the work as a new element?
After almost a two-years process of learning and getting to know each other, as a creator, I can ask the performers for even more. We can go deeper in subject matter, presence, partner work, and engagement with the spectators. I have built the shape of UMARMUNG 2.0 with new situational exercises, again involving co-artists and live music is still an integral part of the work. I would like to find a balance between the contemporary sound of today and the renewal of nostalgic music that has strayed into the past, even by creating instrumental sound presence. This is very different from UMARMUNG, where we opted for full electronic sound and although the music grew according to a structure along the dramaturgy of the piece, now I would like to return to instrumental, possibly acoustic sound in the new creation.

As my presence in the performances of UMARMUNG always gave clear support to the members of my occasional (but now I can say steady) collective, based on the results of the workshop, I once again will be on stage.

I have been working in the field of contemporary dance for twenty-eight years and it is very difficult to break out of a certain range of amounts of funding set by the board of trustees of potential support bodies, which makes it quite difficult to keep my partners. Yet, those companions who, along with me, map out the pioneering endeavor of the ‘Dance Series with Naked Spectators’ in the long run, are committed to the work. Thank you for your hard work and attention; thanks for the Bakelit MAC which provided a safe and unrestricted terrain for my creative works and for our spectators to witness with us this new endeavor unfolding.”

The ‘Dance Series with Naked Spectators’ was created in collaboration with the L1 Association and the Naturists Virtual Club Association (NaVKE). The basic idea came from Márta Ladjánszki, with whom NaVKE came into contact back in 2007. At the time, naturist spectators could watch several of her successful dance performances. In 2018, a longer-term program was launched with several performances, and in fact, after the first two private performances, the circle was opened and since then anyone who undertook to watch the performance naked could join as a spectator.
