We are happy to announce that WOMCOM artists and works can be seen in further Budapest based events…

Women Power in Comics (WOMCOM) brings together partners from Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia with the aim to empower female artists and to promote their visibility and representation. In addition to this, the project will call attention to the image of women in comics.

The Bakelit Multi Art Center Foundation is the Hungarian partner in the collaboration, who invited 12 artists selected through a competition to create short comic strips in the framework of WOMCOM during the Zánka residency from 17 September to 1 October, 2023. The artists were given feedback by the invited mentors, Márton Hegedűs and Dr Eszter Szép, and together they pulsed through the programmes in the countryside and in Budapest. The completed works will be presented in traveling exhibitions by the partners.

The project manager is contemporary choreographer and dance artist Márta Ladjánszki, artistic director of the L1 Association, international contact person of Bakelite MAC.
