Christine Maginnis has been working with Zenon Dance Company of Minneapolis since its inception in the early 1980&aposs, where she has been influenced by an eclectic array of choreographers from around the world. In the mid 90&aposs, she teamed up with Tim Latta (formerly of Pilabolus Dance Company) to co-choreograph a show that toured throughout Italy. Since then here work has been presented in many venues in Minneapolis, including an evening of works produced by the Red Eye Collaboration. Most recently she choreographed a one act piece about the writings of Vincent Van Gogh that was presented on a U.S. television network.
Christine is interested in the theatrical and human realm of modern dance. Her pieces often expose the inside of a character&aposs humanity and take down a fragmented path of emotional transformation. “Azalea Nights” examines a woman&aposs twisted dream world and trips through the dark and light of her unconscious conjurings concerning love, fear and death. The work was constructed in collaboration with a dream interpreter who took a journal off the bedroom bookshelf and fleshed it out to make “dream-logical sense.”
