The avant-garde trio, powerfully influenced by Miro’s works, transforms everyday objects into the simplest possible forms. This strange and provocative activity ripples and floats in a closed space, while the dancers try to create it by passing information to each other. Inspired by Miro, the process of everyday rehearsals was manipulated.

The Plastic Language trio is all self-speaking and playful. The focus is on a charming duet performed by Janczewski and Gabriel Anderson, with solidly curved elevations, standards and significant interactions on the ground. With the help of Amy Behm, the performance gets a subtle, light atmosphere, with dancers bouncing up and down chairs, performing small kicks, moving with balance looseness and rigid articles.

In the performance of the dancers, such movement is easy, effortless. The choreography abounds in detail – a shoulder circle that spreads in a spiral on the arm, sudden hip movements, long light legs, rocking gaits – all of which merge into captivating phases of movement.

“’Plastic Language’ lushly illustrates Janczewski’s supple, lithe choreographic style; at times, one almost feels transported by the kinetic power of the muscular and languorous movement.” – Camile Lefavre, Star Tribune. (March, 2005)
